Indonesia | KPMG

Iwan Hoo is the head of the transfer pricing practice at KPMG, which opened in 2009. It comprises one partner and 16 other fee earners. Collin Goh joined the practice in October 2016.

Responding to Indonesia's implementation of the master life and local file concept, the firm brought in new tax professionals and made use of the resources provided by KPMG International. The firm also organises seminars regarding new transfer pricing rules and addresses specific groups in certain industries. KPMG also holds seminars for domestic and foreign conglomerates to make them aware of new regulations.

The firm is involved in several TP matters. For instance, Hoo and Adinda Soediono are advising a client in a licensing dispute. The team used case law from other countries to strengthen its case. It did this because Indonesia has not incorporated all aspects of the OECD's TP guidelines.

Hoo, Soediono, and Goh are advising another client on the preparation of local files for upstream entities in the oil and gas sector. Regulatory uncertainties in this matter require a redesign of the local file that balances between regulatory uncertainty, foreseeable TP risks and good governance.
