Schachner currently leads the team advising in a TP case for a multinational corporation in reorganising its group structure. The transactions is valued in excess of $100 million. The firm is advising the client in the tax structuring of the whole reorganisation. The complex cross-border case involves coordination between counsel in Canada, the UK, the UAE, Iran, Austria and other jurisdictions because of where the shareholders are based. The transaction includes debt and equity instruments, and stock lending, which are analysed from a tax angle.
The team unfortunately lost senior tax partner Hanns Hügel in 2017. However, it continues to grow with new multinational clients, such as Cargo-partner Group, supernova Group and more.
Gabriele Holzinger leads the transfer pricing team at Deloitte, which is staffed by two partners and one director. In addition to the access it has to the firm’s expansive international network, the office itself includes staff from Austria, Russia, Italy, and Spain.
One recent example of the team’s work saw it advising on the design of a business model and BEPS-compliant transfer pricing concept for a global leasing company headquartered in Austria. It also worked with another client, an Austria-based multinational, on the implementation of a transfer pricing model for the group.
